Hans van den Brug

Hans van den Brug is a consulting engineer with experience in managing international association organizations and projects, uniting experts with different expertise and from different countries and cultures.

His role in Atema Inc. is to advise US clients on European quality matters, directives, standards and CE marking. He assists US and EU clients in international cooperation activities.

For the last 15 years Mr. van den Brug worked in the international welding industry, harmonizing education, training, qualification and certification of welding personnel, first on a European scale and later world wide.

The latest assignment is project-coordinator of a group of European partners to harmonize the education of railway track welders to facilitate exchange of welders across borders and to make their free movement in the European Union possible - one of the goals of a united Europe.

His past positions include:

• Chairman of the Planning and Implementation Group of the International Authorisation Board of the International Institute of Welding (IIW).

• President of the European Welding Federation (EWF

• Managing Director of the Netherlands Institute of Welding (NIL). General management and strategy development. Head of the Certification Department. Development of a Certification system for welding personnel and for welding companies.

• Managing Director of the Institute for Mechanical Engineering, a TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research)
