Richard Barnes
Richard Barnes, Quality Systems Specialist for Atema Inc., has 28 years of experience in the Steel Industry. Currently, he is an auditor for the MnDOT State Bridge Structural Steel Supplier Program and performs hands-on training at erection sites and in Atema’s home office classroom. Richard also served as an Atema auditor in Spain at the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, which was instrumental in supplying materials to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the the New World Trade Center Complex in New York.
He has served as a VP and CEO for fabrication companies before becoming a Quality Auditor for QMC, LLC. Richard’s experiences, both in management and as an auditor for the industry, have given him a superior understanding of the balance of meeting criteria and running a successful business. Richard has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Business Management. His strong sense of leadership gives him the opportunity to serve clients with the common-sense approach Atema is known for.
Leadership Experience
- Quality Auditor for American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certification program.
- Assessments at over 300 fabricators worldwide for major bridges, components and buildings.
- Vice President of ComTech Construction Systems where he was responsible for everything from Quality Management to Facility Operations and Financial Analysis.
- Served as Chief Executive Officer for Almedia, Inc, directing the endeavors of a mid-sized fabrication company.
- Engineering Manager of Utility Service Co., Inc. Richard gained valuable experience in management overseeing the Engineering of towers and antennas world wide.
- Prior Work, Project Coordinator, Project Engineer, Drafting Management and Design Engineer.
